Doha, Qatar - 07 Apr 2012: Qatar-based clean technology advisory and development company GreenGulf Inc. (GreenGulf) has announced a memorandum of understanding with Harvard Law School to explore areas of mutual concern and exchange expertise.

The agreement was announced at a dinner hosted by GreenGulf and Joint Study Agreement partner Chevron for the Harvard Law School Association of Arabia (HLSAA) Inaugural Conference. Omran Al-Kuwari, CEO of GreenGulf, stated: “It is a great opportunity to work in collaboration with such a distinguished institution, and there is much common ground for us to explore”, adding: “GreenGulf, Chevron and Harvard Law School will have the opportunity to engage in a number of joint projects, share knowledge and provide support to one another in what we hope will be a long-term and mutually beneficial partnership”.

GreenGulf, the first private clean technology company in the Middle East and North Africa region, has been involved in a number of successful endeavours since their launch in 2008. The company’s focus revolves around three central points: consulting and advising, project development and principal investment.

“We have grown rapidly in-line with our successes over the past four years” Al-Kuwari commented, “with the largest solar testing facility in the MENA region soon to come on-line and Qatar’s first major solar installation already under our belts, the intention is to continue our upward trajectory over the next few years”.

GreenGulf advised the World Cup 2022 bid on its sustainability strategy and is supporting various institutions including the Qatar Foundation and numerous real estate developments. The company will also be launching a clean technology investment vehicle focused on the development of large-scale solar energy and waste management later this year.

In her announcement for the event following the signed MOU, Dean of the Harvard Law School, Martha Minow commented: “Harvard Law School is delighted to be in serious conversations about the joint projects and looks forward to their fruition over the next few years and announcing them accordingly.”

HLSAA was established in response to the growing number of Harvard Law School alumni in the region and was announced at the Qatar Law Forum in 2009 and is part of the larger Harvard Law School Association, celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.
